This isn't the rental counter at the airport. It's a collection of cars people rent for a reason: a wedding weekend, a client in from out of town, a summer race day, or simply the drive they've always wanted to do in England. Call it luxury car hire or luxury car rental. Either way, it works a little differently, and we'd rather tell you how upfront.
This isn't ordinary car rental
- You book a specific model, not a car category.
- A security deposit is held at pickup by the operator, sized to the car (from £2,000 to £15,000), on a credit or debit card.
- Miles are included. Eight cars have unlimited mileage. The other 23 include 100 miles a day, with a set per-mile rate after that.
- Age and documents are checked ahead. The minimum age is 26 to 30, depending on the car, and every driver needs a full license held for at least 2 years. Book at least 4 days (96 hours) ahead; the operator needs your driver details 72 hours before pickup.
- Collected or delivered. Central London, four airports, or your hotel.

- Choose a car and your dates, at least 4 days (96 hours) before pickup. You'll see the price in your currency, plus the deposit, miles and age for that car, before you pay.
- Request it. Your card is held, not charged. You're charged only when the operator confirms your car, and we'll email you as soon as they do.
- Send your driver details. We'll ask for your driver's license and passport, plus anything else the operator asks for, at least 72 hours before pickup.
- Collect the car or have it delivered. The operator checks your license, holds the deposit and walks you through the car.
- Return it on time with the same fuel level. You get 59 minutes' grace, then an extra day is charged. If the tank is lower, refueling is charged at 2.5 times the local pump price, at least £4.50 a liter.
Where you collect it
Collect it in Bayswater, central London, or at the operator's desks at Heathrow, Gatwick, Manchester and Edinburgh airports, or ask for delivery to your hotel or address. Delivery is priced by time, date and distance, and we get you the operator's quote before it's added.
London's summer calendar
Royal Ascot, Wimbledon, the British Grand Prix at Silverstone and the Goodwood Festival of Speed all fall in the summer season. If you're planning around one of them, book as soon as your dates are set. Check the mileage rule for your car if you're driving out of London.
Coming from the US or Canada?
UK rules let visitors drive a car on a full, valid home license for up to 12 months after arriving in Great Britain (gov.uk). The operator checks every driver's license before pickup. Remember the UK drives on the left, and most of these cars are big and wide for London streets. Questions
- How much is the deposit?
It depends on the car: from £2,000 (est. $2,700) for the Mercedes CLA and E-Class to £15,000 (est. $20,200) for the Rolls-Royce Ghost and Ferrari 296 GTB. Prestige Collection holds it on a credit or debit card at pickup (debit cards go through extra checks) and releases it after the car is returned and checked. There's no option to reduce it.
- What's the minimum age?
In our London collection, it's 30 for most cars, including every Ferrari, Lamborghini, Rolls-Royce, Bentley, Aston Martin, Porsche 911, Range Rover Vogue, Land Rover Defender and G 63. It's 26 for the Mercedes CLA and E-Class, and 27 for the Audi Q7, Lexus LM, V-Class and Vito. It's 28 for the Mercedes GLE, Porsche Macan S, 718 Cayman and Boxster and the Range Rover Sport 3.0. Each car's page shows its age before you pay.
- What does "100 miles a day" mean?
Most cars in our London collection include 100 miles for each day of your rental. Extra miles are charged per mile at the car's rate, from £0.54 to £5.00.
- Can I take the car to France?
Only with the operator's OK. The cars are for driving in the UK. To take one abroad, the operator needs at least 24 hours' notice and its written OK, and extra fees apply. Ask us before you book.
- Can it be delivered to my hotel?
Yes, on request. The operator can deliver the car to your hotel or address and collect it at the end. It's priced by time, date and distance. We get you the operator's quote before it's added, and you pay the operator when the car is delivered.
- What if I cancel or return early?
Cancellation is free up to 72 hours before your pickup time. Inside 72 hours, or if you don't show up, it isn't refundable. Pickups from December 15 to December 31 can't be canceled or refunded once they're booked. Returning early doesn't refund unused days.
