Common questions about Edinburgh
How much is the deposit?
It depends on the car: from £2,000 (est. $2,700) for the Mercedes CLA and E-Class to £15,000 (est. $20,200) for the Rolls-Royce Ghost and Ferrari 296 GTB. Prestige Collection holds it on a credit or debit card at pickup (debit cards go through extra checks) and releases it after the car is returned and checked. There's no option to reduce it.
What's the minimum age?
26 to 30, depending on the car: 30 for most, including every Ferrari, Lamborghini, Rolls-Royce, Bentley, Aston Martin, Porsche 911, Range Rover Vogue, Land Rover Defender and G 63. Each car's page shows its age before you pay.
Is there a maximum age?
The operator doesn't publish one. Message us with the driver's age and we'll confirm it for your car before you book.
Do I need an International Driving Permit?
Usually not for a short visit. UK rules let visitors drive in Great Britain on a full, valid home license for up to 12 months after arriving. Every driver needs a license held for at least 2 years, and the operator checks it before pickup.
Is mileage unlimited?
Eight cars have unlimited miles. The others include 100 miles for each day of your rental, and extra miles cost £0.54 to £5.00 a mile, depending on the car. Each car's page shows its allowance.
Can I take the car to France or Europe?
Only with the operator's OK. They need at least 24 hours' notice and their written OK, and extra fees apply. Ask us before you book.
Can the car be delivered to my hotel?
Yes, on request. It's priced by time, date and distance. We get you the operator's quote before it's added, and you pay the operator on delivery.
What if I cancel or return early?
Free cancellation up to 72 hours before pickup. Inside 72 hours or a no-show, it isn't refundable. Pickups from December 15 to 31 can't be canceled once booked. Returning early doesn't refund unused days.
How far ahead do I need to book?
At least 4 days (96 hours) before pickup, so the operator can confirm your car and check your details.
What do I need to bring?
Your license, your passport and a credit or debit card for the deposit. We'll also ask for each driver's details through a secure link at least 72 hours before pickup.
Where do I collect the car?
In central London at Prestige Collection, Poplar Place, Bayswater (W2 4AS), or at Europcar's office at Heathrow, Gatwick, Manchester or Edinburgh airport, where Prestige Collection hands over its cars. At Heathrow and Edinburgh go to the Prestige Collection desk; at Gatwick and Manchester tell the Europcar team you're collecting a pre-booked Prestige Collection car. Meet & greet at airport arrivals is available on request for an extra charge. Your booking page shows the exact steps and hours.
What's the fuel policy?
Return the car with the same fuel level. Otherwise refueling is charged at 2.5 times the local pump price, at least £4.50 a liter.
What if I return late?
You have 59 minutes after your return time. After that, an extra day is charged. Return the car during the branch's opening hours.
When am I charged?
Your card is held when you request the car and charged only when the operator confirms it. We'll email you as soon as they do. Prices are shown and charged in your currency.
Can someone else drive?
Yes, if the operator approves them at pickup (they fill in its insurance form). They need a license held for at least 2 years and must meet the car's age. Ask us about any charge for your car.
Can I smoke in the car?
No. Smoking isn't allowed in the cars, and the operator can charge up to £500.
Where do I return the car?
Return the car to the desk where you collected it, unless your booking shows a different return point, during its opening hours. You have 59 minutes after your return time; after that, an extra day is charged.
Is insurance included?
Your price includes the rental company's comprehensive insurance. If the car is damaged or stolen, you pay up to the deposit amount for each incident, including the days the car can't be rented while it's repaired. Careless use, like hitting a low bridge or putting in the wrong fuel, isn't covered at all. There's no option to reduce it, and niftirent's own cover options don't apply to these cars.
What if my flight is delayed?
Add your flight number when you request the car, so the desk knows when you land. If your flight is delayed, call the desk or us as soon as you can: both numbers are on your voucher.

Can I get a chauffeur?
These are self-drive cars: you drive yourself, and we don't book drivers. If you'd rather not drive in central London, ask for delivery to your hotel or address when you request the car.
