Driving in Germany
Cars use the autobahn free of charge. Many stretches have no fixed speed limit - but plenty do, marked clearly, and lane discipline is taken seriously: keep right, pass left, and check mirrors before pulling out, as closing speeds can be high.
City centres require an Umweltplakette environmental sticker (an Umweltzone low-emission zone); rental and lease cars for the German market carry one. Services are frequent and driving standards are high.
